If Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, the spirit is life because of righteousness (Romans 8:10). This is the gift of initial salvation received in the spirit. This is what is referred to as ‘by grace you have been saved through faith'(Eph.2:5 & 8).

The salvation doesn’t end with being born again or receiving the Holy Spirit or forgiveness. Rather that is just the beginning of salvation in our spirit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire (Matthew 3:10). If anyone does not abide in Christ, he is thrown away like a branch and withers and is thrown into the fire (John 15:6). The mind is yet to be renewed and transformed by abiding in Christ to bear good fruit during our lifetime. Then the body will be transfigured into the glorious one without sin and death at the coming of our Lord Jesus. So the salvation of man takes place in three stages and is yet to be completed in us. ” Since therefore, we have now been justified by His blood, much more SHALL we BE SAVED by Him FROM THE WRATH OF GOD (Romans 5:9). For the word of cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who ARE BEING SAVED (from perishing) it is the power of God”( I Cor.1:18).

Hence we need to work out our salvation with fear and trembling (Phil.2:12). This doesn’t mean that we complete the salvation by our own works after the initial salvation. The word says’ It is God who works in us’ but He needs our obedience and co-operation through constant daily exercise of the spirit. This is not accomplished in a Sunday meeting. What shall we do to work out our own salvation? We who believed in the Lord Jesus should start loving Him daily. First, we need to read and meditate upon the New Testament daily that we may receive the speaking of the Lord and the word of Christ may dwell in us richly. This is our spiritual food. Then with the word of Christ we received, we should praise and thank God and pray to Him. This is our spiritual exercise. When we practice this daily, we will be filled with the Spirit and led by the Spirit to bear good fruit. Then we should fellowship with God’s children(the church) not just on Sundays but more often for mutual growth.

When the Lord Jesus Christ comes back to earth to establish the kingdom of heaven, He will transform our bodies of corruption into glorious incorruptible ones. Also those who loved Him and entered into the first death will be resurrected with incorruptible bodies. Thus we will be saved from the second death, enter into His kingdom and have dominion over the earth.
